Re: DOC_LIT_12345.3 Hey!
Mtg Mins No Subject :) FW: FW:
For your Review here you go! FYI
Look familiar? These are examples of really bad Subject headings from emails we all receive (and admittedly send). Unless I'm emailing a friend or my Ma, I make sure to include a heading that hints, if not explicitly reveals what is to come
. But alas, I cannot control what comes in (see my "Before" example from Efax to the left). Generally, I don't care, as 90% of what comes in gets deleted. But what about the emails that I save to My Documents or to a sub-folder in my Inbox? What can you do to make scanning, sorting and searching easier?
If you're part of a firm with a document management system such as DM5 or Worksite the solution is built in through the document profile. You simply rename the subject as the file name. But what about those of us in home or small offices without fancy systems? Well, Outlook has your answer and it's so
easy you're going to say WOW and WHOA...and then maybe even CoooOOOOOooool.
Here's what you do...Open the email. Rename the subject (I know it doesn't look editable, but just do as I tell you). Close the Email. Yes, you want to save changes. *POOF* It's like magic.
Two things I've noticed: 1) In Outlook, if you forward the message, it forwards with your new subject line 2)Groupwise forwards with the original subject. Read about GW's "My Subject" solution here.
